X is for Xyloid

Being at a loss for the letter X, I turned to the tried and true friend of every writer … the dictionary. There is a surprisingly large number of words beginning with the letter X, but so very few applicable for daily use.

So, here is today’s brief post in the guise of a pop quiz.

What is the definition of the word Xyloid ?

A. Sweetener

B. Fearful of others

C. Resembling wood

For the correct answer, please scroll down.

If you chose A. Sweetener, you might have been thinking of Xylitol

If you opted for B. Suspicious, you might have been thinking of Xenophobe

If you decided upon C. Wood-like, you would be correct. BUT, if you are only claiming to have known the answer all along, then your nose would be feeling rather xyloid right now!

Thank you for your participation!

W is for Waco Air Museum

Located in Troy, Ohio, the Waco Air Museum is a treasure for aviators, history buffs and perfect for weekend adventurers.

With seven airplanes from the 1920s and ’30s on display, as well as engines, support vehicles, and memorabilia, this museum allows visitors to discover another facet of Ohio’s role in aviation history.

Waco Air Museum is dedicated to sharing the story of the Waco Aircraft Company. Visitors are warmly welcomed and invited to ask questions, to sit in a model glider, and to take a tour of the site.

During the summer months, dare to ride in a vintage biplane, or simply watch from the grassy field if keeping two feet on the ground feels more comfortable. But if you’d still like to soar into the clouds, you might want to learn more about remote control aircraft.

A visit to the Waco Aircraft Museum provides a wonderful glimpse into the past while creating memories for the future.

V is for Variety

While watching the flits and swoops and dives and soars of backyard birds, it is often difficult to clearly see and thoroughly appreciate their prettiness.

When these hotshot fliers come down to earth for even a few moments, their extraordinary beauty is a thing to behold.

It must be quite wonderful to take flight into the heavens on a whim, and return to one’s familiar perch – unruffled, and unfazed.

U is for Unbelievably FAST!

The cheetah is incredibly fast …

… and so beautiful, it might be tempting to reach out to touch that gorgeous coat – which is, of course, a very, very bad idea!

And in the blink of an eye, all that remains is the memory of speed –
